Authorities in the US state of Florida reported several injuries following a collision between a boat and a ferry carrying 40 people in the city of Clearwater.

Florida police indicated that "we have launched an investigation into the collision as a mass casualty incident," noting that at least one person has died from their injuries.

The incident occurred near a memorial bridge in western Florida and involved the Clearwater ferry and a recreational vessel, according to the US Coast Guard.
